Geography
The Free State of Saxony is a landlocked federal state of Germany, bordering the states of Brandenburg, Saxony Anhalt, Thuringia, and Bavaria, as well as the countries Poland and the Czech Republic.
Saxony is composed largely of hill and mountain country. It is home to many historic towns and cities and also the eastern German mountain range, the Ore Mountains or "Erzgebirge" which it shares with the Czech Republic to the south.
